Throwback Parties in NYC

NYC's throwback calendar is a handful of themed nights, each one named for an era or for nostalgia itself. They cluster in two places. In Manhattan it is the East Village, where DROM on Avenue A and the basement club Deluxx Fluxx on East 11th Street both run repeat nights. In Brooklyn it is Bushwick and Williamsburg, with parties at The Sultan Room, Purgatory and The Meadows.

The eras are easy to tell apart. PROMISCUOUS does 2000s club bangers, Take Me Out does 2000s indie and disco punk, and Bangerangerz plays the biggest 2010s club and pop tracks all night. Nightbreed goes back further, with synth, post punk, goth and 80s. Deluxx Fluxx keeps it loose with NOSTALGIA, a throwback classics night, plus a 2010s rap and R&B costume edition for Halloween weekend. reggaetonLABS adds a reggaeton throwbacks party on Thanksgiving Eve. Pick by decade and you will know what you are walking into.

Which era, which room

For the '80s, Nightbreed at Purgatory goes dark with synth, goth and post punk. For the 2000s, choose PROMISCUOUS at The Sultan Room for club bangers or Take Me Out at DROM for indie and disco punk. The 2010s belong to Bangerangerz at DROM and to Nostalgia: Mask On, the rap and R&B costume night at Deluxx Fluxx. If you just want old favorites without picking a decade, Deluxx Fluxx runs NOSTALGIA: A Throwback Classic Night on Friday, November 13 and Friday, November 27, with no era named. Reggaeton fans have Reggaeton Throwbacks at The Meadows.
