Open Decks at SILO Brooklyn is a session hosted by DJ and musician Steen, where DJs take short turns playing house and techno on the venue's front room system. This edition, on Tuesday, November 17, is co-hosted by Remniqe. DICE lists it from 7 PM until 2 AM.

What to expect

A participatory DJ night rather than a headline club show: you can listen, hang out with other DJs or put your name down to play. The front room runs on a custom 15,000 watt Danley sound system, according to the description, and capacity is limited. My take: good for DJs who want to hear their own or favorite tracks on a serious system, and for house and techno fans who enjoy a rotating lineup.

Music and lineup

House and techno, played by whoever signs up, with Steen hosting and Remniqe co-hosting. Slots are 12 minutes. The first three DJs play in order of arrival; after that, names are drawn at random from the sign-up list through the night, weighted toward people who arrived earlier, and you get half an hour's notice before your slot. No other DJs are confirmed and there is no timetable.

DICE lists 7 PM to 2 AM; the description refers to the first sign-up at 8 PM. Sign-up is in person at the event only, so find Steen when you arrive.
