About the party

Shoegaze FM brings its Recession Party to Eris on Graham Avenue in Brooklyn on Saturday, October 17. The idea is a dance night that blends dreamy shoegaze and dreampop with electroclash. It uses both the Main Hall and the Underground Lounge and runs from 10 PM to 3 AM.

What to expect

The night is built in two parts: from 10 PM to midnight the DJs stay with chill, nostalgic shoegaze and dreampop, then from midnight to 3 AM they mix in electroclash. The suggested dress is grungy, punk, whimsical or vintage; it is a suggestion, not a requirement. The organizer lists a 200 capacity, zero tolerance for discrimination or harassment, and says attendees may be photographed and recorded. My take: for people who grew up on guitar-haze records and want to actually dance to them.

Music and lineup

A DJ night only: the organizer says none of the artists it references will perform live. Reference artists named include my bloody valentine, slowdive, Beach House, Cocteau Twins, Crystal Castles, M83, Snow Strippers, 2hollis and The Dare. DJs listed by handle: MC Cece (@dnc.trickshots), Pistil (@06_female), @jeweldj4u and @camyoung0. Exact set times per DJ are not confirmed.
