About the party

Brooklyn Brujeria takes over Xanadu in Bushwick on Friday, October 23, for the second edition of Salsa and Skate. The night moves from a salsa roller-skate session to an on-2 dance class and then a salsa social dance party in shoes.

What to expect

Roller skating to salsa, a mini Magic Market, a workshop, and a dance party to close. My take: a fun one for salsa dancers and skaters; you can skip the skates and come for the dance party.

Music and lineup

DJ sets from DJ UltraViolet, Retro Melodies (Lulada Club) and Chiqui B (Uptown Vinyl Supreme), per the description. Salsa is the focus. Exact set times are not confirmed.

Listed from 7 PM to 2 AM, 21+. Schedule: salsa skate from 7 PM, an instructional workshop in shoe mode around 10 PM to 10:30 PM, then the social dance from 10:30 PM. Skate rental is not included and is first come, first served. Sign the Xanadu waiver in advance if you skate. Physical government ID required; photos are not accepted. No gum, outside food or drink, and bags are searched. Xanadu is wheelchair accessible with ramps and ADA bathrooms, and is near the Jefferson Street L stop.
