Taco Tuesday NYC: happy hours where tacos and Tuesday line up
For Taco Tuesday NYC bars that put it in writing, go to La Caverna on the Lower East Side, Mad Tropical in Bushwick, whose happy hour runs all night on Tuesday, or Nostrand Station Bar & Lounge in Crown Heights. Papacito's in Greenpoint, El Lugar Cantina in Chelsea, Baylander Steel Beach in Harlem, and Mayahuel and Spanglish NYC in Astoria also have tacos on a happy hour that runs on Tuesday.
Taco Tuesday is easy to say and harder to find on an actual menu. We started from the happy hour offers of the 685 bars on our list and looked for tacos as a named item. Eighteen bars have them: nine in Manhattan, five in Brooklyn and four in Queens. Then we checked each one's windows, and all 18 run a happy hour on Tuesday. That is less surprising than it sounds, since 653 of the 685 bars on our list have a Tuesday window.
The smaller group is the bars that make Tuesday the taco day. Six bars write Taco Tuesday into their own happy hour text, and three of them are picks below. The rest of the picks have tacos on a happy hour that happens to include Tuesday, which works just as well when you are hungry.
The eight picks cover three boroughs. Cards carry live prices and hours. Use the text for what kind of tacos to expect, how the Tuesday deal differs from the rest of the week, and which train to take.

The rest of the week it switches to a margarita tower, beer, wine and well drinks with no tacos, and there is no happy hour on Monday or Saturday. Essex Street on the F, J, M and Z is two minutes away.

The deal is simple: two tacos, cocktails and draft beer. Its listing says it is closed on Monday. Central Avenue on the M is seven minutes away, and La Loncheria, which lists a taco and margaritas on its daily happy hour, is about three minutes on foot.

The 28th Street station on the 1 is two minutes away, which makes it an easy stop after work in Chelsea.

Chicken tacos are sold one at a time, and the food list adds elote, guacamole, chicken empanadas, buffalo wings and a cheese quesadilla. Drinks include margaritas, a frozen margarita, the Picosito, mojitos, sangria and Corona or Modelo bottles. Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard on the N and W is five minutes away.

How Tuesday changes the deal
At most bars on this list, Tuesday looks like any other weekday. The tacos are on the menu for the whole working week, or every day, and Tuesday is simply included. Mayahuel and Spanglish NYC work that way, and so does El Lugar Cantina, whose week runs Tuesday through Friday.
Three picks treat Tuesday differently. La Caverna only serves tacos on its Tuesday menu, and that window runs the longest of its week. Mad Tropical stretches its usual evening happy hour into an all-night one on Tuesday. Nostrand Station Bar & Lounge bundles tacos, street corn and a margarita into one Tuesday special. Papacito's is the odd one: its tacos are on the daytime window and the last hour of the night, not the late afternoon, so plan your Tuesday around those two.

Three more bars name Taco Tuesday in their happy hour text. The Commissioner in Park Slope lists chicken or fish tacos with frozen or rocks margaritas on Tuesday, next to its Monday to Thursday happy hour. Cocteleria Perla Negra in Harlem notes Taco Tuesday all day. Sal y Lima in Rockaway Beach runs its happy hour every day except Tuesday, which it keeps for Taco Tuesday, so check its own page for that night.
Other bars with tacos on a happy hour that includes Tuesday: Panzon in Greenpoint has single tacos, El Coco in Chelsea has tacos from Sunday through Thursday, Deja Vu New York in Astoria has tacos Tuesday through Sunday, and Los Mismos Amigos in Corona has a taco on its weekday afternoon list. Grand Street Social in SoHo has roast pork tacos on its weekday food menu.
Making a night of it
Two neighborhoods let you stack a second stop. In Bushwick, Mad Tropical and La Loncheria are about three minutes apart on foot, by our measurement. In Greenpoint, Papacito's and Panzon are about a seven-minute walk apart. A few practical notes. Mayahuel serves its happy hour food at the bar only, and El Lugar Cantina runs its deal at the bar, so take a stool. Baylander Steel Beach and El Lugar Cantina have short windows, so arrive near the start.
