In short: 18 bars in Koreatown, Manhattan run a happy hour, 11 with the deal spelled out. The cheapest drink we have on file: $5 at Maru Karaoke Lounge. Most start at 4pm. Most are near the R, W, B, D trains.
Koreatown is centered on West 32nd Street between Fifth Avenue and Broadway, a block from Herald Square and Macy's, and our list radiates out from there. Two karaoke bars sit right on 32nd Street, Irish pubs and bar-restaurants fill West 33rd to 36th Streets around Herald Square, and a few more line Seventh Avenue and West 35th Street near Penn Station. The page also reaches south to West 27th and 28th Streets and Broadway, an area most people call NoMad, near the 28th Street stop on the R and W.
Koreatown happy hour comes with a twist: both karaoke bars on 32nd Street discount early in the week, and Maru takes half off private rooms during its window. Around Herald Square the deals are classic after-work fare, with drafts, well drinks and house wine at set prices, plus oysters at Legasea. Most windows are weekday only, though Juniper, Muses 35 and Seeyamañana run every day, and Glass Ceiling Rooftop runs Tuesday through Saturday. Waiting on a train at Penn Station? The bars on West 35th Street and Seventh Avenue are two minutes away.

The southern stretch is easiest from 28th Street on the R and W, a minute or two from Glass Ceiling Rooftop, Pergola and Seeyamañana.
Menu prices here leave out the 8.875 percent sales tax, and the standard tip runs 18 to 20 percent. Several deals in this area are limited to the bar, including Legasea, Stella 34 Trattoria and Muses 35, and the karaoke bars set drink minimums outside their happy hour.
