In short: 10 bars in Union Square, Manhattan run a happy hour, 8 with the deal spelled out. The cheapest drink we have on file: $5 at Linen Hall. Most start at 4pm. Most are near the L, R, W, 4 trains.
Union Square is the crossroads where Broadway meets 14th Street, and our list fans out from it in every direction rather than sitting on the square itself. East along 14th Street at Third Avenue, Linen Hall and The Penny Farthing are next-door neighbors by the 3rd Avenue L. South and west, The Grey Dog on University Place, Josie Woods Pub and White Oak Tavern on Waverly Place, and Da Andrea on West 13th Street lean toward Greenwich Village, while Kyma is a few blocks north on West 18th Street.
The Union Square station is a major hub, with the 4, 5, 6, L, N, Q, R and W, so this is an easy place to meet people coming from anywhere. The happy hours here are generous with time: White Oak Tavern lists Thursday as all day, and The Grey Dog runs daily. A Union Square happy hour also tends to come with food, from Greek bites at Kyma to Italian boards at Da Andrea.
