In short: 544 bars in Manhattan run a happy hour, 380 with the deal spelled out. The cheapest drink we have on file: $1 at Inwood Bar & Grill. Most start at 4pm. Most are in Midtown, East Village, Upper West Side.
Manhattan holds the bulk of our list, with bars and restaurants across 25 neighborhoods. The largest groups are on the Upper West Side, in the East Village, around Times Square, in Greenwich Village, on the Upper East Side and in Hell's Kitchen. Murray Hill, Koreatown and the West Village come next, followed closely by the Financial District, Flatiron, the Lower East Side, Midtown and Nolita. Uptown the list thins out, with smaller groups in Harlem and East Harlem and only a few places in Washington Heights and Inwood.
Most Manhattan happy hour deals are weekday affairs, but plenty of places on our list run something on Saturday or Sunday, and Times Square, the Upper West Side and the East Village offer the most weekend choice. If you want food with your drinks, the West Village has more listings with a food deal than any other neighborhood. Each listing shows its nearest station and walking time, which makes it easy to string two neighborhoods together on one subway line.

Weekday afternoons are the default in Manhattan, and downtown spots such as Toro Loco and Filé Gumbo Bar wrap up early in the evening. For Saturday and Sunday, look to the residential neighborhoods: The Ribbon, Ethyl's and Ponty Bistro all include the weekend, and Times Square, the Upper West Side and the East Village have the most weekend listings overall. Day patterns vary a lot from bar to bar, so check the days on each listing before you set out.
Manhattan menu prices exclude the 8.875 percent sales tax, and the standard tip is 18 to 20 percent on top. Plenty of deals apply only at the bar, so ask before you sit at a table. Happy hours change often, so check the date we last confirmed each bar on its page.
