Outdoor Happy Hours in NYC

Updated · refreshes daily

In short: 16 bars on this list, 11 with the deal spelled out. The cheapest drink we have on file: $6 at Dos Caminos. Most start at 3pm. Most are in Upper West Side, West Village, Midtown.

An outdoor happy hour in NYC usually means a sidewalk cafe, a patio or a garden, and several places on our list say plainly that the deal applies only at the bar or outside. Only a small group of spots carry the outdoor tag. Manhattan holds most of them, spread from the Upper West Side down through the West Village, SoHo, the Lower East Side and the Financial District. Brooklyn has entries in Williamsburg and Prospect Heights, and Queens is represented too.

Restaurants make up a large share, so these deals often lean on food as much as drinks: Mexican plates at Dos Caminos, Greek small plates at Meraki, truffle fries at Osteria Nonnino. Weekday windows dominate, while Osteria Nonnino, Jack & Charlie's No. 118 and John Doe Craft Bar & Kitchen also run on Saturday and Sunday. Outdoor seating depends on the season and the weather, so treat the patio as a bonus and confirm it is open before you make plans around it.

Bar and patio rules

Several outdoor deals here come with a seating condition. Osteria Nonnino, Jack & Charlie's No. 118 and Dos Caminos serve happy hour only at the bar or outside, and Cotta Osteria says the same about its bar and outdoor seating. Wayward Fare in Brooklyn is the exception, honoring its deal in the dining area as well.

Before you go

Menu prices leave out the 8.875 percent sales tax, and New Yorkers tip 18 to 20 percent on top. An outdoor-only deal may not be available when the patio is closed for the night, so ask before you order. Every bar page carries the date we last checked its happy hour; glance at it first.
