In short: 372 bars on this list, 246 with the deal spelled out. The cheapest drink we have on file: $1 at Papacito's. Most start at 4pm. Most are in Upper West Side, East Village, Hell's Kitchen.
Saturday and Sunday deals are more common than you might guess: plenty of bars on our list run a happy hour on at least one weekend day, and many of them run all seven days. The bars whose deal exists only for the weekend are rarer, and they tend to be afternoon affairs tied to brunch or a slow Sunday. Manhattan has most of the weekend list, led by Times Square, the Upper West Side, the East Village and the Upper East Side. Brooklyn comes next, with Williamsburg and Bushwick on top, followed by Queens.
A weekend happy hour in NYC tends to start earlier than the weekday version, sometimes in the late morning, and to wrap up by early evening. Plan around the afternoon rather than the night, and check which day applies, since a few bars cover only Saturday or only Sunday.

Via Trenta Osteria & Wine Bar is an Italian wine bar on 30th Avenue in Astoria with a happy hour Tuesday through Saturday, running from midday through the afternoon on Saturday. Saturday is the weekend day to go. The N and W at 30th Avenue are about six minutes away, and it takes reservations.

Most bars on this page run the same deal all week, so the weekend is just another day for them. The weekend-only deals are different: they tend to start in the late morning or early afternoon and finish before dinner, and several belong to restaurants that serve brunch. If you want a Sunday evening drink, look at the daily deals instead, because most weekend-only windows have closed by then.
Restaurant deals are often limited to the bar, so ask before you sit down at a table. Every check in the city adds 8.875 percent sales tax, and servers expect a tip of 18 to 20 percent on top. Weekend hours shift more often than weekday ones, so check the last-checked date on each bar.
