In short: 367 bars on this list, 305 with the deal spelled out. The cheapest drink we have on file: $1 at Papacito's. Most start at 4pm. Most are in Midtown, Williamsburg, East Village.
A wine happy hour in NYC tends to cover house red and white by the glass, often with prosecco or rosé, and at a few places a carafe or bottle. Plenty of bars on our list carry the wine tag. Manhattan has most of them, led by the Upper West Side, the East Village, Hell's Kitchen and Murray Hill. Williamsburg and Park Slope top the Brooklyn count, Astoria leads in Queens, Staten Island and the Bronx have a few entries too.
Dedicated wine bars are a small share. Most entries are restaurants and cocktail bars that discount a house pour next to beer and well drinks, so the choice is often one red and one white. Weekday windows are the norm, though a fair share of the list includes Saturday or Sunday. If you want more than the house glass, look for places that name a grape, a carafe or a sparkling wine on the offer list, and ask which bottles count before you order.

Most wine deals are by the glass. Osteria Nonnino adds carafes, and Sonnyboy on Rivington Street lists a bottle deal alongside its craft cocktails. For something sparkling, Tre includes champagne and both Kyma locations pour prosecco. Gebhard's Beer Culture on the Upper West Side names its white and rosé wines, which helps if you care about the grape.
Wine lists are priced before the 8.875 percent New York sales tax, and a tip of 18 to 20 percent goes on top. Happy hour pours are often limited to the house selection, and sometimes to the bar seats. Every listing shows the date we last checked it; give it a look before you head out.
