In short: 9 bars in Long Island City, Queens run a happy hour, 4 with the deal spelled out. The cheapest drink we have on file: $6 at Woodbines. Most start at 4pm. Most are near the 7, N, W, R trains.
Long Island City is the western edge of Queens, facing Midtown across the East River. Our list for happy hour in Long Island City splits between two parts of the neighborhood. Most spots sit in the waterfront section around Vernon Boulevard, Jackson Avenue and Center Boulevard, all walkable from the Vernon Boulevard–Jackson Avenue stop on the 7. The others are up by Queens Plaza and Queensboro Plaza, where The Beast Next Door and a ramen stall in the Mettra food hall are steps from the train.
Cocktails lead the way: frozen drinks and sangria pitchers at Blend on the Water, mezcal drinks and an espresso martini at R40, mules and margaritas at Jackson's. For a weekend, American Brass covers all seven days and runs later into the evening than anyone else on the list, and the Mettra food hall runs a daily window too. One planning note: R40 keeps its deal to the bar on Wednesday and Thursday only, so save that one for midweek.

The deal is served at the bar; tables book on Resy.

Blend on the Water sits on Center Boulevard by the river, about nine minutes from the Vernon Boulevard–Jackson Avenue station. Its weekday happy hour starts before lunch and lasts into the early evening, with frozen drinks, pitchers of sangria and martinis on the list. That long window makes it the pick for a late lunch with a drink. Book on OpenTable.

Nagaiki Ramen is a stall inside the Mettra food hall on Jackson Avenue, two minutes from the accessible Queens Plaza station on the E, F and R. The 7 does most of the work. Its Vernon Boulevard–Jackson Avenue station, the first Queens stop on the line, serves Jackson's, R40, American Brass and, with a longer walk toward the river, Blend on the Water. Queensboro Plaza on the 7, N and W is two minutes from The Beast Next Door, and Queens Plaza on the E, F and R is the accessible choice for the Mettra food hall.
Menu prices do not include the 8.875 percent sales tax, and a tip of 18 to 20 percent is expected. R40 and American Brass both tie their deals to the bar, and others may do the same, so ask before you sit. Happy hours shift without much warning, so check the last-checked date on each listing first.
