Where to watch football in NYC: game day bars and their deals

If you are deciding where to watch football in NYC, start with bars that say so on their own websites. The Commissioner in Park Slope promises football Sundays, O'Flanagan's on the Upper East Side lists NFL Sunday Ticket, and The Dawson 39 near Bryant Park advertises wall-to-wall TVs to catch every game. Soccer fans should look at Tavern29, Meller's Sports Hub and Kent Ale House.

It is the middle of football season. College games fill Saturdays, the NFL takes over Sundays, and plenty of New Yorkers would rather watch with a room full of fans than alone on the couch. The catch is that a sports bar sign does not tell you which game will be on the screen near your stool, or whether the bar carries the package your out-of-town team needs.

So we built this list a different way. Every bar here is tagged as a sports bar or a pub in our data, and for six of the eight we read the bar's own website and found it saying, in its own words, that it shows games: football Sundays, NFL Sunday Ticket, every soccer match or every game. The other two earn their spot with long happy hours, one of which reaches into the weekend, and we describe them only as far as their sites go. The picks are spread over Midtown, Union Square, the Upper East Side, Park Slope, Williamsburg and Astoria.

Each card shows the live happy hour days and prices. Most of these deals are weekday deals, so we point out the ones that reach Saturday or Sunday. For a big game, call ahead: what a website promised last season is not a promise for this weekend.

Our picks

  1. The street outside The Dawson 39 in Midtown

    1. The Dawson 39 Midtown

House White Wine $9.28 · House Red Wine $9.28
    Mon–Fri 12pm–7pm · Sat 12pm–1am · Sun 12pm–11pm · 54 West 39th Street · 42nd Street–Bryant Park (7, B, D, F, M)

An Irish restaurant and sports bar on West 39th Street, a short walk from Bryant Park. Its own site promises wall-to-wall HD TVs and tells you to catch every game, across two floors. Our listing has happy hour Monday through Friday from midday and all day on Saturday and Sunday, so a weekend game day can stay on the deal. 42nd Street-Bryant Park on the 7, B, D, F and M is two minutes away.

Deal checked Oct 17, 2026 on the bar's own site.

  2. The street outside Tavern29 in Midtown

    2. Tavern29 Midtown

    IPA $7 · S NEGRONI $9
    Mon–Fri 12pm–7pm · 47 E 29th St · 28th Street (6)

A pub on East 29th Street, a minute from the 28th Street station on the 6. Its site says it shows all soccer games, from the Premier League and Champions League to La Liga, and all college sports league games, and it keeps a separate game day menu. Happy hour runs on weekdays from lunch into the evening and covers an IPA, a Negroni and a Rose Hill sangria, which makes it a strong pick for a midweek match.

Deal checked Sep 2, 2026 on the bar's own site.

  3. The street outside Josie Woods Pub in Union Square

    3. Josie Woods Pub Union Square

Bud Light Pints $5 · Rotating Draft $6
    Mon–Fri 3pm–7pm · 11 Waverly Pl · 8th Street–New York University (R, W)

A pub on Waverly Place near Washington Square Park, two minutes from 8th Street-NYU on the R and W. Its site lists 14 HD TVs, plus pool and darts. The happy hour runs Monday through Friday, from the afternoon into the early evening, with buffalo wings on the list. That makes it a weekday pick for an early kickoff or a midweek match.

Deal checked Oct 17, 2026 on the bar's own site.

  4. The street outside O'Flanagan's in Upper East Side

    4. O'Flanagan's Upper East Side

    $3.00 well drinks
    Mon–Fri 4pm–7pm · 1215 1st Ave · 72nd Street (Q)

A pub on First Avenue on the Upper East Side, tagged as a sports bar in our data. Its website lists NFL Sunday Ticket and Fox Soccer Plus among the sports it shows, though parts of that page look several seasons old, so call to confirm before kickoff. Happy hour is a weekday deal that runs into the early evening, with well drinks on the list. The 72nd Street Q station is about seven minutes on foot.

Deal checked Oct 15, 2026 on the bar's own site.

  5. The street outside Meller's Sports Hub & Grill in Upper East Side

    5. Meller's Sports Hub & Grill Upper East Side

    Wine $4 · Frozen Drinks $8
    Mon–Thu, Sun 11pm–3am · 1702 2nd Avenue · 86th Street (Q)

A family-owned sports bar on Second Avenue. Its site counts more than 25 TVs, including private booths with their own screens, and calls itself a home for Premier League and European soccer, with Arsenal fans welcome for every match. The happy hour is a late one, Sunday through Thursday, covering wine, mixed and frozen drinks, margaritas and Aperol, so it fits the end of a long Sunday. The 86th Street Q is two minutes away.

Deal checked Oct 15, 2026 on the bar's own site.

  6. 6. The Commissioner Park Slope

all drafts $1 off · Wine, Well, Beer & Shot $8
    Mon–Thu open to 6pm · 247 5th Ave · Union Street (R)

A neighborhood bar on Fifth Avenue in Park Slope that calls itself a second living room and promises an exciting football Sunday on its own site. Happy hour runs Monday through Thursday until early evening, with money off all drafts and a set price on wine, well drinks and a beer and shot. So the deal is for after-work rounds; on Sunday you come for the crowd. Union Street on the R is four minutes away.

Deal checked Oct 17, 2026 on the bar's own site.

  7. 7. Kent Ale House Williamsburg

    $10 seltzer and shot
    Mon–Fri 4pm–7pm · 51 Kent Avenue · Bedford Avenue (L)

A pub on Kent Avenue in Williamsburg whose site describes it as a sports and craft beer bar for watching rugby and soccer, with 11 TVs and 24 taps. Happy hour runs Monday to Friday into the early evening, and the listed deal is a seltzer and shot pairing. Soccer and rugby come first here, so ask before you count on an American football game. Bedford Avenue on the L is about seven minutes on foot.

  8. The street outside Daly's Pub in Astoria

    8. Daly's Pub Astoria

    Times published, deal not listed
    Daily 11am–7pm · 31-86 31st St · Broadway (N, W)

A pub on 31st Street in Astoria, a minute from the Broadway station on the N and W. Its site pitches it as a place to watch the big game or meet up with friends. Daly's has one of the longest happy hour windows on this list: every day of the week, weekends included, from late morning into the evening, so a Saturday or Sunday afternoon there stays on happy hour prices for hours.

Deal checked Oct 16, 2026 on the bar's own site.

Sunday game day and weekend happy hours

Here is the honest problem with football and happy hour in New York: most deals on our list run on weekdays, and the games you care about are mostly on weekends. A few of these picks bridge the gap. Daly's runs its happy hour every day, Saturday and Sunday included. The Dawson 39 is listed Monday through Friday from midday and all day on Saturday and Sunday, and Meller's runs a late deal from Sunday through Thursday. For more options by day, browse Saturday happy hours, Sunday happy hours or the full weekend list, and our weekend happy hours guide.

Plan around kickoff. On the official Giants and Jets schedules, many of this season's Sunday home games are listed for 1 p.m. Eastern, with the odd prime-time game mixed in, such as a Thursday night home game for the Giants in November. If your game is in that early Sunday window, a bar whose deal runs all afternoon, like The Dawson 39 or Daly's, keeps the second and third rounds on happy hour prices. For a late game, our guide to what time bars close in NYC explains the rules.

How to pick a bar for your team

Ask ahead. A message or a call the day before is the simplest way to find out whether your game will be on, which screen it will be on and whether the sound will be up. If your team is not a local one, ask whether the bar carries NFL Sunday Ticket; O'Flanagan's lists it on its site. Soccer fans should ask which league gets priority when matches overlap, since Tavern29, Meller's and Kent Ale House all lean toward soccer.

Arrive early. The tables with a clear view go first, especially when a New York team plays or a big rivalry is on. Groups should ask whether the bar takes reservations for game days, and pay attention to any minimums. Tip like you plan to stay for four quarters; our guide on how much to tip at a bar in NYC covers the norms. For more rooms with screens, see sports bar happy hours and pub happy hours, and for halftime entertainment try bars with games such as pool and darts.

Food for game day

The deals at the eight picks above are mostly about drinks, so if you want wings and fries on the discount too, look a little further. The Malt House in Greenwich Village runs its happy hour only on Saturday and Sunday, and the list includes jumbo wings and parmesan herbed fries. Third Avenue Ale House on the Upper East Side has a weekend afternoon happy hour that includes food, and its site describes a billiards room with large TV screens where you can come along to watch a game.

For more, the happy hour food page lists every deal with food on it, and our cheap happy hour food guide picks out the ones worth building a meal around. Eating early in the game also keeps a long Sunday under control.

Getting to MetLife Stadium from the city

Both the Giants and the Jets play their home games at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, according to their official schedules. If you have tickets, NJ Transit's Meadowlands page describes the main route: take an NJ Transit train from Penn Station New York, at 32nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues, to Secaucus Junction, then transfer to the shuttle train to Meadowlands Rail Station, steps from the stadium. That special rail service runs for large events, and NJ Transit notes you need a ticket to board the train from the Meadowlands back to Secaucus.

By bus, NJ Transit's page points to the Coach USA 351 Meadowlands Express from the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Check the service on game day before you leave. A drink near Penn Station first is easy to arrange; see our guide to drinks near Grand Central and Penn Station.

Questions

Where can I watch NFL games in NYC?

Start with bars that say so on their own sites. The Commissioner in Park Slope promises football Sundays, O'Flanagan's on the Upper East Side lists NFL Sunday Ticket, and The Dawson 39 near Bryant Park says you can catch every game. Call ahead to confirm your game.

Which NYC bars have NFL Sunday Ticket?

Of the bars on this list, O'Flanagan's on First Avenue lists NFL Sunday Ticket on its website. Parts of that page look dated, so call before Sunday to check that it is still offered this season.

Where can I watch soccer and the Premier League in NYC?

Tavern29 near the 28th Street 6 station says it shows all soccer games, Meller's Sports Hub on the Upper East Side calls itself a home for the Premier League, and Kent Ale House in Williamsburg is set up for soccer and rugby.

Do any football bars have a happy hour on Sunday?

Yes. The Dawson 39 near Bryant Park runs happy hour all day on Sunday, Daly's Pub in Astoria runs it every day, Sunday included, and Meller's has a late happy hour starting on Sunday. Check each card for the current window.

Where do the Giants and Jets play?

Both teams play home games at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, according to the official Giants and Jets schedules.

How do I get to MetLife Stadium from Manhattan?

For large events, NJ Transit runs trains from Penn Station New York to Secaucus Junction with a shuttle train on to Meadowlands Rail Station. NJ Transit's page also points to the Coach USA 351 Meadowlands Express from the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

How we put this together

We started from bars tagged as sports bars or pubs in our data and favored those with a weekend happy hour. On October 17, 2026 we read each candidate's own website and only say a bar shows games when that site says so; the other picks are described from our listings. Happy hour days and offers come from each bar's own site as stored in our data, rechecked between September 2 and October 17, 2026 depending on the bar. Stadium and kickoff details come from the official Giants and Jets schedules, and transit details from NJ Transit's Meadowlands page, all checked October 17, 2026.

Something wrong or out of date? Tell us and we will check it.
